Pride

Vancouver Pride week is in full swing. We had a great weekend, starting on Wednesday when I hosted a fireworks party (Celebration of Light International Competition) since my balcony has a great view of English Bay. Thursday and Friday were spent visiting out-of-town friends, attending a planning meeting for the Vancouver Men In Leather parade float and going out. Saturday afternoon we went to the Pre-Pride Picnic in the Park event at Brockton Oval in Stanley Park which was fun and well-attended. Saturday was the second fireworks night so we went to a friends men-only party on his rooftop patio overlooking the Bay. Sunday the gang got together again and spent the afternoon drinking on the J-Lounge patio then sticking around for the Sister's of Perpetual Indulgence first Vancouver event. The Abbey of the Long Cedar Canoe is the new shiny chapter of the Sisters to set up in Vancouver. We welcome them...they always put on good parties for good causes!

My friend from Chicago is landing today and spending the week with me. We will get a lot of ground covered over the next week; although I have to work I happily managed to get pager coverage for the weekend. I think today we might hit Third Beach and go out for dinner. Tomorrow night is Fireworks installment #3, Thursday and Friday will probably be repeats of last week (!). The Telus Davie Street Party goes on Friday night followed by the VML Tom of Finland Party and the crazy weekend officially start. We have tickets for the Trouble T-Dance on Sunday afternoon after the parade, and Cruisy-T tickets for Monday afternoon. I am volunteering at the Pride Run Saturday morning, and supposed to be on one or two floats in the parade (I know! Popular! ;P) The rest of the weekend will definitely fill itself up. Lots of opportunity to rubber and leather up.....Happy Pride Vancouver!
