Spexter update

I faxed my measurements to Spexter last week. They want a pre-payment before starting on creating the suit. €591 for the suit plus S/H!!!! Holy crap! Almost $950CAD. That's a lot of money. Should I do it?

For that price, I could probably get two different off-the-rack suits.

Hmmm.....but...it's...so...HOT!

Rationalization: to get the customized pieces on a similar suit would bring the price up considerably on an off-the-rack suit, so maybe I shouldn't be freaking out so much. One could easily see a $500 suit quickly become a $750 one with a few accessories like attached socks, gloves, CB Sheath AND codpiece in place of a zipper, and those crazy lenses...so really I am only paying an additional 20% German fetish premium, yeah?

One thing is for certain -- I'm now convinced that I'm officially and definitely off the deep end.

Just like the economy, blech!

Hi Reid,
Did anyone recommend Spexter to you?If not,why go with them?
Surely there must be other latex companies that you know about who you have used in the past to make you a full coverage suit that may be slightly less expensive.
The first time you mentioned this suit ,you did say that you would prefer to have someone measure you instead of you sending approximate measurements to the company. Why dont you take a little time to investigate other companies nearby and see how much the cost of a similar suit is?
I can understand the way you feel, its ages since I had a made to measure suit.I couldnt trust myself that the measurements i gave were the most accurate.I think i would be worried that once the suit is made....thats it.
Hope this is of some help?

The Spexter suits were featured in an Instigator magazine a couple of years ago. It was love at first sight....

I've done a lot of research. The suit is comparable in price to what you'd get from any other high-end rubber shops (in fact it is somewhat in the middle); since I'm such a rubber snob now, I won't tolerate buying anything because it's cheaper...I buy it because I want it and the people who are making it are reputable and I know will do a fantastic job with the details.

I have a good feeling about the guys from Spexter; they've made me feel comfortable with the decision to buy, and it will have a few features one can't find elsewhere which I think is pretty cool too.

As for the measurements, I have a pretty good idea of proper sizing particularly for me now because I have had custom suits made in the past and know now what I liked about them and what I didn't based on the measurements I provided.

It was simply of referencing those old measurements to the ones taken for the new suit to determine whether we were in the ball-park or not for sizes. As it goes with Spexter, the suits aren't custom-sized per-se, but they do as close a match for the different parts of the suit to standard sizing for the best fit possible. If I wasn't such a standard size, I might be concerned, but as I've said before, I'm blessed with being about as standard-sized as any clothesmaker could want!

I just hope I'm not going to be disappointed. Dem's the breaks when the only option is buying online. I think I really have to get into the industry at those prices, though......

Oh yeah, and their CB sheaths are supposed to be the best on the market! ;-D

Reid,

Other than the price (which I also did a bit of an EEP! about) - are you *sure* that having all the attached pieces is the way to go? What is Spexter's repair policies?

I agree that the suit is *arousing* to say the very least, but STR or Libidex don't offer anything similar?

I'm gambling here; but it's done. The suit is ordered, no more stress! LOL

I don't have a total enclosure suit of high quality - that's that this purchase is, and I'm not paying too much more than a special order from Blackstyle or Libidex.

Maybe it'll be totally worth it, maybe it'll be a disaster. The pictures will speak for themselves in four weeks or so.

Thanks for your concern, but I'm not worrying about it anymore. I plan to have a great new suit to wear out and play in by the new year!

Hi Reid,
I think what you have said is fair enough.I think we all feel envious that you will hgave the total enclosure suit we all would love to be wearing?I know I would indulge (if the bank would allow).I'm not sure though if the rubber company i chose would have ALL my requirements!lol.
I can only imagine the excitement on the day it arrives.I hope it isnt delivered just as you leave for work.......I just couldnt bear the thought that it was waiting their for me.I would want to take the day off!

Meh...I can't really afford it either, but what the hell...I gotta help get this global economy back on track somehow! LOL

I've talked to Spexter quite a bit - they seem more than willing to help out in the unfortunate situation where something goes wrong with the suit. As was mentioned before, my biggest concern is the fit of the suit based on measurements taken at home and not in the store. I wish I had the opportunity to go into the shop and legitimately get sized by the tailor, but that's just not possible.

I'm calmed a bit in the fact that I've had pretty good luck with such transactions in the past and I hope that this is the same!

Don't worry, D...the day the suit arrives, I'll probably try to take the day off and spend the entire day in the suit taking pictures! LOL

Pretty exciting stuff...

Hi Ried,YOU ARE ONE LUCKY GUY!!!
Pretty exciting eh??I should say so.
I dont think I'd be (just) taking pictures though(if you get my drift),I'd be looking for somewhere to wear it and with someone who likes a guy in latex.;)

Hopefully someone will be there to help with the pics; initially like with any suit I'll be paranoid to do anything with it!
