...Sad news yesterday that designer Alejandro Bulaevsky was found dead in his New York apartment after what appears to be a latex play session gone awry. This is something so preventable, yet tragically seems to happen far too often. I respect Ruff's pleas via Metalbond's blog to avoid breathplay completely, but I still do believe it can be done in a safe manner with ample pre-planning AND a play partner/monitor ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS. It's one of those things that's okay to do in a very controlled environment with very experienced players. I personally don't cut off air supply completely, nor do I ever mix it up with bondage.
Not that that helps the ones we've lost already...:(

Breath play can be done safely, but ONLY with a partner! You need someone who can stop the session and make sure you're able to breathe if things are not going right. There is no way you can guarantee your safety doing it alone.
